Frequently Asked Questions

Tell me about your experience. How long have you been holding events at Templeton Hall?  We are celebrating 20 years here and just won the Best Business in Cooperstown Award 2022 presented by the local Chamber of Commerce.

What’s the average price for an event at Templeton? All events are different, so we need to know what services you are interested in.  Please see our packages to determine if what we offer will fall within your budget. We provide a contract with event estimate in advance for your review and approval.

What’s included in my rental? Please check out our venue page to see the different rental rates and packages. The full list of what we can provide is here.

If my event is only anticipated to last a few hours, can I rent the room at a reduced rate? Maybe. Just ask!

I’m with a non-profit organization. Are there any special rates for groups such as mine? Probably!  Just ask!

Is there an outdoor space at Templeton for cocktail hour?  Not really. We do have some occasional tables with seating set in front of the building. We have also tented that area in the past so let us know if that’s something you may be interested in.

Do you have air-conditioning? Yes, as well as ceiling fans and additional standing fans if needed.

Is there parking available? We do not have a parking lot, but there is plenty of street parking close by as well as parking at a bank lot across the street available after banking hours.

Can I bring my own alcohol?  No, all alcoholic beverages must be provided by Templeton Hall and served by our bartenders.  You may however provide your own wines or Champagne that can be served with a corkage fee charged.

Can you accommodate disabilities? Yes, Templeton provides a handicapped ramp and restroom facilities.

Can I get my deposit back if I have to cancel?  Your initial deposit is non-refundable unless we can re-book the space. We may be able to refund any later deposits depending on the circumstances.

I’ve always dreamed of hiring a big band for my wedding. Is that something Templeton can accommodate? We have a balcony overlooking the event floor with space for a number of musicians but remember it’s not a huge event floor so live music should be kept to a modest level unless your party is small enough to make room for them as well as dancing.

My caterer of choice is not able to provide enough staffing for my event. Can you help? Yes!  We have a list of servers who have worked for us for many years we can provide to your caterer. Staff is to be contacted and paid by your caterer.

What’s the dress code for service staff? The staff wears white collared shirts and black pants. We provide a black and white striped apron unless the caterer has other preferences.

Who will be the contact person during my event? Do you have any other events that day and will you be there? A Templeton Hall employee will always be available. Your caterer should provide a floor manager as well.

Do we need an event planner or can you help us coordinate the timeline for our reception? We would be happy to assist and work with your caterer. Most often a wedding planner or event coordinator is not needed.

Are there any rules about us providing our own food? No, you may provide your own but be aware that Templeton Hall cannot be held liable for any food-borne illness caused by foods you provide. You can also work with your caterer to determine what items they may allow you to provide.

We want to keep it simple with food dropped off by a local barbecue company, but it will be in cardboard boxes and foil pans.  Can you provide equipment to “dress it up?” Certainly! We’ll provide names of our service staff you may contact to assist. They are very familiar with our service wares.

What about gratuity for the bartenders you provide? Bartenders may not put tip jars out unless it is for a cash bar.  Their wages are covered by our administrative fee, but feel free to give them an extra tip after the event ends if their services have lived up to your expectations. Tips for the service staff should be handled through your caterer.
